Labia Reduction Surgery - Labiaplasty

Labia reduction surgery can be performed on enlarged, or (hypertophic) labia minora. Some women feel that their labia (or vaginal lips) are unusually large. This enlargement can cause irritation, problems with personal hygiene, interference with sexual intercourse, or general discomfort when being active.

The Surgical Procedure
Reduction of the labia minora can be performed under general or local anesthetic. Great care is taken by the surgeon to avoid interference with the clitoris or urethral opening, giving the patient as natural a result as possible.

What to expect after surgery
Dissolving stitches are most often used, and a dressing similar to a feminine pad is worn throughout the healing process. Patients are asked to avoid strenuous activity and sexual intercourse for 2 - 3 weeks following the procedure.
